Alcohol Problems

Posted on February 6, 2010.
Alcohol ProblemsAlcohol problems and how to diagnose and treat

Alcohol problems can take two forms: one is the problem drinker who has problems when they start to drink and sometimes lose control of their consumption. But there is also alcohol, which can not live without drinking at all. What you should do first is to identify what type of problem you are dealing.

If the answer is it when you do not have a drinking problem, you have an addiction to alcohol. This means that you're not much of a problem drinker you are an alcoholic with a serious addiction. Now if you want help with your drinking, then the first thing you have to do is get honest with yourself and evaluate what is really going on with your life. Is it possible to simply go without drinking for one month and not make a big deal of it? Is it to create resentment or hurt to have fun? If yes, then you're probably an alcoholic and might want to consider a real help to him.

On the other hand, there are people who are really just problem drinkers. " So if you give them alcohol on a regular basis, at times they give way more and have problems, but they can easily stop drinking when the consequences are real problems they face. For the true alcoholic, major consequences of life will not really deter them from drinking.

Now, it can sometimes be a bit tricky to diagnose because it is the case of binge drinking. Binge drinkers are those who drink heavy quantities for days, but can go for long periods without drinking at all. Binge drinkers and alcoholics may still be the effects of this behavior can be quite devastating. It becomes difficult to determine, however, because heavy drinkers may last a long time without consuming alcohol.

So if you think you have a problem with alcohol, then the first step is to get honest with yourself and really diagnose where you are with her. If you're really not sure what your level of dependency is, you can try the two following experiments:

1) Have a drink every day for the next six months, never exceed the amount of glass per day. No exceptions allowed.

2) Do not drink for six months. No exceptions.

If you can not pass through these two experiences without cheating at all then you're probably not addicted to alcohol. But if you're feeling the experience itself, so it might be the case that you are an alcoholic. If you're a problem drinker, then you screw on the experience first and loses control while trying to stick to your limit at some point. If you are addicted to alcohol, then you will fail to experiment and the second will be unable to live without some sort of help.

If you find that you have a problem with alcohol, then it is better to ask for help. If you are an alcoholic true, then this may involve seeking treatment in an institution with a complete detoxification unit. This is important because the withdrawal of alcohol is very risky and can be fatal.

Alternatively, if you're a problem drinker, however, you can try a treatment or perhaps to find a counseling session. This can help you identify if you want to take steps to reduce or stop your alcohol consumption.
