The symptoms of asthma ...? I wonder if I might have asthma. I really do not know the symptoms, but lately I've been coughing a lot, and I have this strange feeling in my throat like a cold feeling like menthol. I do not get it, like shortness of breath or anything unless I run a lot or something. but this sort of strange feeling makes me cough and when I play hockey, I'm out of breath quickly. Is this perhaps asthma?
Common symptoms of asthma are:
~ Cough
~ Wheezing
~ Shortness of breath
~ Tightness in the chest.
Not everyone has all these symptoms. Some people experience them from time to time, some people may experience these symptoms all the time.
I suggest you consult your doctor to be sure. You can get your hands on somting called pekflow in which you can measure your lung capacity, if you get a recording that you receive, buit it will be used to help diagnose whether you have asthma or not.
Some people with asthma find their exercise triggers asthma symptoms. However, exercise is good for everyone, including people with asthma. If your asthma is well controlled, you should be able to participate, have fun and keep fit.
See www.asthma.org.uk for more info and a chance to discuss it with asthma.
Wen I attack I get most of these symptoms you may have mild asthma, but going to doctors to be safe rather than sorry Report Abuse
If you have problems with shortness of breath during physical activity, chances are you have excercise induced asthma. Consult your doctor for a tell him when and what are the symptoms that you experience (ie, wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath), he / she Wil prescribe an inhaler for you to use before you are active.
Hope this helps
it might be, but you should also consider if you are allergic to dust. Asthma is an allergy, but when you have an allergy to dust, is when your throat feels like scratching. an asthma attack feels like when you are underwater and the need to breath air. also someone smokes around you or can you feel someone s smoking, which also creates the cough and throat irritation.
Typical symptoms and signs of asthma
The symptoms of asthma vary from person to person and any person from time to time. It is important to remember that many of these symptoms can be subtle and similar to those observed in other conditions. All the symptoms listed below can be present in other respiratory diseases, and sometimes, in heart conditions. This confusion makes identifying situations in which symptoms occur and diagnostic tests is very important in the recognition of this disorder.
The four major recognized symptoms:
* Shortness of breath - especially with exertion or at night
* Wheezing - a whistling or wheezing when breathing in
* Cough - can be chronic, usually worse at night and early morning, and can occur after exercise or exposure to cold, dry air
* Chest tightness - may occur with or without the above symptoms
Asthma Information

* 30% have mild, persistent (two or mores episodes a week) symptoms of asthma with normal or abnormal breathing tests
