What is the frequency of bone cancer in dogs? I'm in shock, my not quite 6 years old Doberman has been euthanized after being recently diagnosed with bone cancer just three weeks before. He climbs very quickly and it was in such pain. Is this common?
large dogs like Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds can be susceptible to bone cancer called osteosarcoma. Osteosarcoma is the most common bone tumor is the dog. It is believed to be related to the size and breed of how fast the dog grows. As large-breed dogs tend to grow faster then other races, they are more prone to this race, then smaller. The long-term prognosis is generally poor with regard to treatment and most treatments require amputation of the infected leg and chemotherapy.
Not common, I mean, cancers are oter
Depends on the breed of dog. Some breeds are very sensitive to certain types of cancer and others do not. Most larger dogs are more prone to it than small dogs.
I'm sorry for your loss.

You do not know how common but you have my sympathy, it is so hard to lose a faithful animal. The daughter of my husband has discovered her dog has bone cancer and has 3-6 months to live. They get a lot of things that people, while cats. I'm sorry you lost your pet.
