Braces Games

Posted on March 6, 2010.
Braces GamesWhy exactly do a lot of volleyball players wear ankle braces during games?

I am a volleyball player, amateur, and I have many problems with the ankle. Should I buy the braces? Why do players with ankle perfectly wear them? Just wondering. (:

It's so they have more support from the existence of ankles (of course). Sometimes when you jump, you land funny and wounded in the ankle or you can rotate a bit during the race. I use ankle braces (Actually, I have ankle problems) infact I recommend that if your problems are serious enough that you should use them so you do not do anything serious for

its for people who have ankles week and it gives them more support. but some stupid people wear as a fashion statement "butt are mainly worn to protect your ankle to get injuryed.

To avoid injuries, like someone twisting an ankle break.

well answer your first question, simply because its a fashion statement, or why?

And most players I know are having problems with their legs / knees / ankles.

Finally, from what I hear, once you start playing with the brace you cannot really play without it (or what I heard from my friends who wear them).

If you have problems with your ankles, you must raise DEF.

Active ankles are a requirement when most coaches volleyball. They are considered as a toggle (I hate both) to avoid injury. If you have ankle problems, you should look online or even go see a doctor and try to make some stabalizers and strengthen. A brace will not fix an injured ankle, in fact, if it is bad for the registration and wearing braces will actually hinder the healing process. With regard to wearing braces for the ankle and having to always wear forever, I was forced to wear them and I ankles perfectly and never need them after have been made. You should really look into the active ankles because they prevent you from having the settings and give outs, but try to do some rehabilitation to have no dependents.

I used to wear ankle assets as a measure of prevention and recovery while playing. I wore them for about three years after a sprain, I'm used to them and I also heard the rumor that they make your ankles weak (complete BS BTW), then I tried to play without them and I weened off of them because I was afraid of a sprain. I still have weak ankles, but I have not (knock on wood) has a sprain after 4 years. I just learned to fall so I'm starting to feel a twist on the future instead of fighting the urge to stay (which is what causes the injury to the ankle rolled.)

Most players of volleyball in front of the line used to prevent injuries down wrong, or landing on another player. If you play the front line, so my advice is yes buy them. I wear ankle active and I started to wear them after I sprained my ankle.

Although many of these answers are correct, none of them cover all issues. Active Ankles are a preventitive measure but are not full proof. Nothing is 100% guaranteed. Yes, buy two ankle braces. But do not forget to reinforce the most important "brace" of all, your natural muscles of the ankle. Find or buy (they are very cheap) a theraband. (Even at Walmart) Put the tape around your foot on holding the ends of two hands creating a stirup. Pull to tension on the tape and draw the foot all full CBA. To this end, two feet every day. Your doctor should have recommended that when you hurt. It works great to keep the height of the ankle.
Almost all players volleyball wear braces just for accidents. If you're ever in the net and you go down the block, there's a good chance the other daughter of the Otherside has his feet on the halfway line and it is very easy to land on her feet or legs blockers and colleagues roll your ankle. I did it myself.
