Where can I find a list of the top 10 centers of cystic fibrosis? cff.org that Tim mentioned is your best source. I got treatment through:
Children's Hospital / Washington University / Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri (also my transplant center)
University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri
Methodist Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
The Children's / Wash U / BJH and University of Missouri were both excellent programs. The advantage of the program of St. Louis on the Columbia program, is that St. Louis has two children and adult centers transplant program in the same schools. University of Missouri does not do a lung transplant, but they are in good communication with the transplant teams in St. Louis. The program that I used in Texas was a program for adults and it was horrible, but I heard from almost children's program is very good.
There are some support groups CF too and one of the group members can give you an overview on advantages and disadvantages of the program they are in. Some programs are only children, some are adults only and some even consistent with what they thought of as a program for children, treating both. Do not let the type of program, they allow you to discourage - if the docs are good, then this is where you want to go. Everything else can be treated in conjunction with other medical teams to the corresponding installation.
Many CF treatment centers are aligned with research and medical schools as well, so you may have to speak to what seems like many people, you help upgrade the skills of those in the medical field as well as receive advanced treatment and awareness of what is ahead.
Best wishes.
I always try www.cff.org been happy with my center of KY they have been serving me for 38 years
If you want opinions, sign http://www.cystic-l.com and ask your question there. The CF Foundation has a list of all centers, but I'm sure they would not classify them.
You can search and obtain a list of centers for cystic fibrosis, then go to U.S. News report on the best hospitals and see how many are ordered in pulmonary medicine.
