Diabetes Help

Hi I would like to know how diabetes occur? Is it necessary that if a person in the family has diabetes that future generations will also get it?? Wat r the remedies and precautions to take at this stage? my father was diagonosed Diabetes minute and my uncle who is my fathers brother is also having diabetes? Please give me accurate information!
