Dog excessive thirst? Me old dog is drinking too much, and therefore to pee at the drop of a hat. I got to the vet - his urine revealed no abnormality, and a complete test of Hematology also revealed nothing. His blood sugar was fine, so no diabetes, and liver and kidneys are perfect, if anything. The vet said that the results were more typical of a dog half her age, he is (he has 12). It has been bad for about three weeks and all tests were taken during this time, it seemed obvious, but it started again. Because he was so thirsty all the time, he seized every opportunity to drink - the theft of your tea, drink from toilets and puddles in the street and he always wants, because he drinks much, it pisses all the time too, and we do not always do so through the door on time. He's panicking because he knows he is not supposed to pee in the house. Every thought of you guys would be appreciated - the veterinarian believes that there is nothing wrong with him, but said if it persists, the next option is the X-ray or MRI.

There are many veterinarians who can answer this question, and / or tell you what tests to run your veterinarian
This could either be the beginning of Cushing's disease or kidney problems, I take him to the vet and get it checked again or change vets and get a second opinion
at his age he could be his kidneys or he could have become diabetic.
It seems as serious as diabetes, overweight is it? ... my dog was exactly the same and the pee was really embarrassing for him. His diabetes has started like that.
I know it's an expense, but suggest you take it to another vet and get blood sugar is aagain? ...
It is diabetes, it is possible to treat.
Good luck!
Definitely not normal (what ever normal) try to get a veterinarian website and ask the question you ask here. It could put your mind at rest and good luck to this poor old dog.
Limit fluid intake and keep track of how much he is drinking and how it is @ pee. What state VET or not the urine is concentrated? Want to see the color (as long as it is not brown or red) in the urine. This shows the kidneys are functioning properly.
What the vet to crystals in urine or stones in the bladder? How about Cushings disease?
Since you have eliminated the most obvious, it may be time to go to x-ray or MRI.
