Hemoglobin Monitor

Posted on February 14, 2010.
Hemoglobin MonitorExplain the role of hemoglobin in the control of blood pH?

Basically, the more CO2 in the blood, the higher the rate of bicarbonate in the blood more acidic and it will do (lower pH). Hemoglobin is what gives red blood cells to carry oxygen in the blood to other tissues and organs. The O2 should balance the levels of CO2. In addition, if your circulatory and respiratory function normally, then the waste CO2 and others should be taken anyway out of your bloodstream.

If you have too little CO2, however, the blood becomes too basic, raise the pH. Thus, the pH balance in the blood goes in both directions, and is part of homeostasis.
