Hepa Filtration

Hepa FiltrationFacts about HEPA Vacuum

In today's society, we have become much more informed and aware of environmental problems like air pollution inside and outside. We understand the need for energy efficient appliances, cleaner fuels, and the use of filtration in our homes. When we are presented with a product that uses HEPA filtration, we assume that it will help improve the quality of indoor air. However, with products using this technology costs hundreds of dollars and the annual cost of replacing the filter, should not we study HEPA further?

HEPA technology was originally developed for the nuclear program of the United States. This program is clean and HEPA technology that could be achieved. HEPA filtration industry has since spread throughout the medical field, treatment of silicon chip, and others.

HEPA (High Efficiency Particle Arrest) filters 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns. For comparison, a human hair is about 40 microns. Clearly, the technology works very well. However, a problem arises when these filters are used with products such as vacuum cleaners.

HEPA filters require an air velocity at low flow. The HEPA filters used in vacuum cleaners are no different. Conversely, vacuums require airflow speed to do their job properly. Works better airflow the better the vacuum. How do vacuum manufacturers resolve this dilemma? They simply allow the most air to bypass the filter. You, as consumers are not aware of this fact. At this point, common sense tells us that HEPA filters have their place but not in vacuum cleaners. Is there an alternative that works? The answer to this question is a resounding yes.

The Filtrete filter has been designed by 3M to be used in products that require high-speed air. Tests show that these filters function as well or better than HEPA filtration vacuum cleaners, air conditioners and other products. Another major advantage is the cost of Filtrete filters.

Replacement HEPA filter vacuum cleaner, as recommended by the manufacturer, may end up costing hundreds of dollars per year. On the other hand, the Filtrete filters are very reasonably priced. Filtrete filters can also be used in different ways.

Vacuum using the bag filter are less bulky, lighter and more efficient. Filtrete filter bags made for many brands and types of vacuum cleaners. vacuum bags themselves are less expensive than models using the HEPA filtration. You can get a quality, powerful vacuum with all the bells and whistles for less money by buying the bag, non-HEPA version and use a Filtrete filter bag instead.

The lessons we learned here can be carried forward in all areas of our lives. Do not believe everything they tell you. Just because a product is expensive and using high technology does not assume that this is the best choice.
