Ketones In Pregnancyboard management of diabetes during pregnancy

Planning is very important if you want to have a baby and that you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Also on 100 pregnant women in the United States, three to eight get gestational diabetes. So even if you do not have diabetes, but now you are pregnant, so it is crucial for diagnosing gestational diabetes, it is always good for you and your baby.

Gestational diabetes: changing hormones and weight gain are part of a healthy pregnancy. But both changes make it difficult for your body to keep up their need for a hormone called insulin. It's pancreas can not produce enough insulin to compensate for the hormone produced during pregnancy that lead to blood sugar in the blood rose called gestational diabetes.

Tips diabetes during pregnancy :

limit sweets - Meals, eating three small meals and 1-3 snacks per day to keep your meal times, add fiber to your meals as fruit, vegetables and whole grains.

Physical activity - walking and swimming, can help you achieve your goals if you are a blood glucose gestational diabetes (even without insulin may be) and for type 1 diabetes, it is favorable to maintain normal glucose in addition to their normal insulin dose.

insulin treatment - some with gestational diabetes and other type 1 diabetes require insulin to achieve their goals of glucose in the blood. Insulin is not harmful to your baby, but controlled blood glucose is beneficial for your baby.

or monitor glucose meter details - Know your blood glucose level using glucose monitor. Check blood glucose when you wake up (not exceeding 95), just before meals and 1 or 2 hours after your food (140 - 1 hour, 120 - 2:00)

Ketone test - test for ketones in your first morning urine, high levels of ketones are a sign that your body uses your body fat to energy instead of food you eat. Using fat for energy is not recommended during pregnancy. Ketones may be harmful to your baby.

Testing for diabetes baby after birth - For most women, gestational diabetes disappears after pregnancy.

Breastfeed your baby - Breastfeeding is recommended for most babies, including those whose mothers had gestational diabetes. your child's risk of type 2 diabetes may be lower if you breastfeed your baby and if your child maintains a healthy weight.

My best wishes for your healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.
