Lung Cancer Treatment Options

My mother just learned she has diabetes type II, 5 or 6 tumors in the liver and 5 or 6 tumors in the lungs. They did a biopsy of the liver on Fri and they do an MRI Monday in his brain and a bone scan and mamogram too. They also want to check her colon. Is it serious?
