Pain Behind Right Shoulder Blade

Posted on February 11, 2010.
Pain Behind Right Shoulder BladePain behind my right shoulder blade?

I'm about 6-8 weeks of pregnancy, and I count the days until my first OBGYN appointment. I had such pain behind the right shoulder blade, they have been happening on and off a few weeks now. I find especially when I'm sitting, and if someone presses this point (I can not reach me), he goes in a minute or two. At first I thought it was just a muscle strain, but I read that shoulder pain can be caused by an ectopic pregnancy. The only other symptom that I could have an ectopic pregnancy is a pain in the abdomen, I was attributing to gas, but I could be wrong. Please no answers telling me to go to the doctor - I am sceduled to do that in a few days. Thank you for the help, everyone!

Well, you're right: it could be a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy. And I'm sorry, but you need to talk to a doctor or health professional. An ectopic pregnancy is an emergency. If you do not want to try to get an emergency appointment, at least one nurse call line or even Planned Parenthood and get medical advice.

In fact, I would go to the emergency without waiting for your appt. Seriously. IF you have an ectopic, pain in the shoulder blade is internal bleeding. This means that you need to see someone ASAP. It does not hurt to get the check, but you take a risk by failing to have verified.

Just bacause you have a few days to go before your apt, does not mean you can not call the doctors office and tell them what is going on. You can also have a side which is in its place. I did that when I learned I was pregnant. Not a symptom of pregnancy, but does place the same time. I went to a chiropractor and after a few visits, more pain. He also contributed with great inconvenience of pregnancy. Can you help. But to call the doctor. Good luck

It could be gas ... Seriously, it's pain in the shoulders is a symptom of bad gas. I sometimes severely.
If it is not gas, so it might actually be a stress or fatigue.
Just, whatever you do, do start thinking something is wrong. You look healthy and young.
Abdominal pain is very common in the first weeks ... And sometimes continue through the entire pregnancy.

Good Luck. and Congrads on the new baby ....

Stacie

It could be gas ... I wish I had someone to rub it for a while and see if it goes away. Is it pain or something familiar that you've never experienced before?? For now, I would not worry as ectopic pregnancy are very rare.
