Pregnancy And Oral Health

Posted on February 8, 2010.
Pregnancy And Oral HealthPregnancy and oral health?

I'm sorry, I'm asking so many questions, but my mother is asleep and I do not want to call and wake her.
I take really good care of my teeth. I brush twice a day, floss twice a day, and I use a fluoride mouth rinse at night. I just found out today that I'm pregnant, and for a few days ago, I noticed that my gums are a bit red and swollen.
Is it because of my hormones going crazy? Is this normal for pregnancy?

Perfectly normal. Congratulations on your pregnancy. swelling of the gums (and even a little bleeding) is very common during pregnancy. You must continue with good oral hygiene especially now. So just continue your routine.

If you get hurt especially the gums (they can) use warm salt water for flushing, thereby swelling. I go to a periodontist is what they recommend. Your gums should get better and return to normal one month after the birth of your baby at the time as most of the pregnancy hormones are gone from your body.

Yes it is normal, could soon your gums bleed when you brush. It happened to me and it stopped during late pregnancy

It is normal. Keep taking care of your teeth and make sure you go see your dentist at least once during pregnancy.
