Red Sores

Posted on February 25, 2010.
Red SoresMy turtle has small red sores on the bottom of his shell, we have this problem again?

We thought it might be a rock that the turtle was jumping and climbing. They Arnt bleeding or whatever they are like the round ends. None of the scales "on the bottom are falling or something like that and the type of lesions in the tooth in a little bit. The turtle is a red slider-earred, and about 4 years.

if the bumps are just flat and, as in the shell, then I do not worry too much, but just in case take it to the nearest vet just to make sure

It is an infection and should be treated. Seek the advice of a veterinarian ASAP known reptile. More info here:

Its fine, but it could be chaotic evil.

I have a 4 years in Australia Murray River turtle neck short.
A year ago, I noticed a reddish color on the bottom of his shell, I ended up taking him to the vet just to make sure everything was ok.
Turned out he had blood poisoning, he had contracted some sort of bacteria in the tank.
I had to give him anti biotic needles in his leg every other day for 8 days. He recovered and is now as healthy as can be:)
Apparently, if I had left it much longer, the poisoning would have killed him, when the red turns to a purple color, it is too late to treat.
My advice would be to take him to the vet and I checked. Good Luck.

Well, my turtle died of this cause I left it untreated. go to your local pet store and talk to them ... they must have something called a dive sulfa "follow the package directions for how long and what size bucket to do so (I forget) and it should begin to improve after a year treaments . Each pack contains at least five treatments, and it cost me four dollars .... not expensive at all and all worth it .. good luck, I hope I helped
