Shoulder Blade Muscle Pain

Posted on February 28, 2010.
Shoulder Blade Muscle PainWhat are the causes of pain between the shoulder blades?

The scapula, otherwise known as the scapula is the bone structure in the upper rear body connection between the arm and chest (rib cage). The scapula is also part of the socket, which connects the upper arm to the socket. It is surrounded by muscles and tissues that cushion the bony structure that allows the shoulder to move without problem. Thus, the scapula is heavily involved in the various movements of the arms of the man. Like any other body part, however, the scapula can suffer swelling and inflammation, leading to what is commonly called the shoulder pain of the blade.

However, the pain between the shoulder blades can be caused by a number of factors. The pain can come from inflammation of tissue or tendons surrounding the shoulder blade or scapula. Muscles around the shoulder blade may have been torn or strained because of some fierce activities. The same case can also apply in respect of the tendons and ligaments of the shoulder blade area. Joint dislocations can also lead to pain in the shoulder blade after a strong trauma after an accident or during a game a sport. scapula pain may also involve a bone infection or a tumor in the region of the scapula, but such cases are very rare.

Although the pain between the shoulder blades can be a sign that there is something wrong with the tissues, joints, ligaments and muscles in and around the shoulder region, it is not always the case . Not all types of pain between the shoulder blades are indicative of infection, inflammation, or problems in the region of the scapula. Pain between the shoulder blades, may be indicative of a disease other than that which is directly linked to infection in the shoulder blade, pain can be a warning sign of a body in the body. This type of pain is considered "referred pain".

scapula pain may be a sign of pain in another part of the body which may range in severity from mild to severe. Thus, pain may be referred pain from the lower neck or lower back. This may be caused by too much stress or too much time spent at the computer. This may also indicate a problem position. If the person has poor posture, the spine may be affected and, consequently, it returns the stress and pressure to the area of the scapula.

On the other hand, the pain between the shoulder blades can indicate serious health problems or conditions in other organs of the body. This may mean an impending heart attack, it was documented that, prior to a heart attack, most are pain between the shoulder blades. Gallbladder disease can also manifest in the form of pain between the shoulder blades. This can often be accompanied by vomiting. It can also be caused by liver cancer and esophageal cancer or cancer of the esophagus due to abnormal growth of cells and tumors in a person's esophagus.
