Is there a cure for sickle cell constant in a child now? Sickle cell disorder occurs in children with SS genotype blood taken from parents who have both genotype AS. It is usually painful for the patient, especially blacks.
The first drug effective treatment for adults with sickle cell anemia serious was reported in early 1995, when a study by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute found that daily doses of hydroxyurea , a cancer drug reduces the frequency of painful crises and acute chest syndrome. Patients taking the drug needed fewer blood transfusions.
I'm sorry to say that there is no cure for this. Although there is no cure for sickle cell anemia, doctors can do much to assist patients and treatment is constantly improving. The basic treatment of painful crises relies heavily on painkilling drugs and oral and intravenous fluids to reduce pain and prevent complications.
Here are some options:
Blood transfusions -
- Oral antibiotics
- Hydroxyurea
I hope this has answered you.
There is no cure yet, just methods to reduce pain and keep the child comfortable.
No, it is a genetic disease. ie, there is no cure.
If you look at the ads of cord blood banks, there is one which provides that a child has been cured of sickle cell disease. I am not sure of the validity of the claim, but I know that the transfer of stem cells is the only way to combat many diseases that were previously untouchable.
