How can I get a lot of iron with meat restaurant because i may have a cause of low iron I show all the signs.? I am a vegetarian and have been around 5 to 6 years and since I febuary shows signs of iron deficiency I want ice dissymmetrical very, very tired, and my nails break easly. Plus I was also told that my iron is low, my OBGYN appointment in April last one month after my blood test, but when I gave blood they said my blood was fine and when I I called her on my period.
You can try to have a vitamin and mineral supplement pill that has iron. So if you do not eat all the vitamins you need, you can always get enough.
Foods rich in iron are meat and more dark, leafy greens (like spinach), fruit drired, baked beans, chickpeas, fortified cereals iron (try Post Shredded Wheat Frosted), tofu, lentils, dried peaches, and artichokes.
Being on your period may affect your iron levels to some extent, so that may be all that was wrong with your blood test. But most food-wise is to eat lots of dark leafy greens such as spinach, cabbage, turnips and mustard. No meat, these are the best sources of iron. Well, I'm anemic and I do not really like meat is if you can take a mulitvitamin or an iron supplement. You could buy the iron supplement at GNC or as it could buy the mulitvitamin everywhere.
