Smoking Cessation

Posted on February 8, 2010.
Smoking CessationFocus on the positive effects or benefits of smoking cessation

People say that those who smoke have more fun. Many people think that this is true. But it is not. It has already been proven in scientific studies UK. In a poll of 879 people who smoke successfullyquit, 70% of them feel that their life is much happier now, when their addiction ended, 26% reported their general state of mind before and after is the same and only 4% of the equation says that they were happier before quitting.

Focusing On Positive Effects Or Benefits Of Smoking Cessation

As a former smoker myself, these results do not really surprise me at all. None of these people who have finally managed to quit smoking regret their decision to quit. What they really regret is not having the habit of smoking in the first place.

There are still going around stupid myths that smoking may actually make you live longer, but the quality of your life will not be that good. However, almost all ex-smokers will tell you, this is not true. How to quit smoking, they feel more in control of themselves and they finally went back slowly feeling of self-esteem.

Based on my experience, it is very difficult to ask someone to stop smoking. It is equally difficult to convince him that quitting smoking is good. A person should focus on about the benefits of quitting in terms of how it raises the quality of life. Talking about all the health benefits is really old news about him and can not be sufficient. Also, speaking of the benefits is better than trying to scare the person smoking for positive reinforcement is always stronger. The focus on the positive effects or benefits of smoking cessation will certainly give it a goal or reward at the end of the painful journey. This is a better motivation than to think of the consequences that awaits the result.

Most of the satisfaction of being in control of their lives becomes pronounced, the happier they are. For young people who still have many things to do in their life, freedom from this addiction is exciting and liberating. For older people who feel like they have less time to do something with their lives and who have been hung over, quitting is not always bring happiness, because they may feel that their time is past. But still, while they still have, always will be even better and longer because of the termination.
