You will find an osteopath will be very interested in your personal history to understand where the problem started, even going back to childhood. They will also look at your attitude and posture, particularly the positioning of your hips over your spine and legs. Most treatments usually involve a combination of massage and spinal adjustment. A chiropractor is interested in your spine. After assessing your problem, chiropractors manipulate the spine to try to correct the problem over time. There are two techniques for handling I've seen - although there may be more. All chiropractors who are there, do not hesitate to ring! The first technique I have seen is the physical manipulation where they use their bodies to adjust your spine. The second is the use of a small device that grows in the region they wish to address. It has a flat, round tip, which applies a small amount of pressure to a target area so as not to hurt.

Essentially, the therapist attempts to reduce tension around the affected area and evacuate the toxins that have accumulated in the muscles over time. This generally treats the symptoms rather than the cause itself. However, massage is an effective way to regain movement and reduce pain. Many people also use it as part of a maintenance strategy to prevent injuries in the future. It is probably worth mentioning at this point that once you injure your back, it is very rare not to encounter problems again.
