Viral Mouth Sores

I went to both the dentist and gym last Thursday, Friday and woke up not feeling like myself. On Saturday, I felt super low, and developed white spots in my mouth ... thought it was strep. After two rounds of antibiotics, the ER said it was viral. My mouth is covered with wounds very painful and my mouth, including gums are swollen. Has anyone ever heard of this before?
